Ethics and the Case Against Tom Girardi

Former attorney Tom Girardi shot to fame when he took on Pacific Gas & Electric in a toxic tort class action, a case that was immortalized by the movie Erin Brockovich. Since then, Tom has been disbarred for mishandling client funds; an involuntary bankruptcy has been filed against him and his firm; and in February of 2021 he was placed in a conservatorship and subsequently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. This program is a fascinating account of his meteoric rise to fame and his crash to earth, and tells a tale of unprosecuted or unreported ethical violations and the client damage done on the way down.
