YTOPIC: Constructive Conversations for Legal Professionals: Navigating Conflict During Difficult Times
SPEAKERS: Beverly Endslow, CDCA Clinical Asst. with the Ohio Lawyers Assistance Program and Dawn Hays, Esq., SHRM-SCP, Columbus Bar Association
DESCRIPTION: Attendees will consider how constructive conversations can lead to meaningful collaboration and change within law firms and legal departments. The program will center on how to hear others and find common ground, and how individuals with opposing views have learned to work together for better personal and professional outcomes.
In this program, attendees will learn:
- Practical strategies to navigate workplace and client communication with civility and respect.
- How to use self-reflection to recognize how communication decisions affect personal and firm brand and reflect core values to others; and
- How to use language and non-verbal signals to foster civil communication with clients, other attorneys and court personnel, even in tense situations and ways to navigate working with high-conflict colleagues, clients and opposing counsel.
